And this is as far as I’ve got.
The interior is mostly out. I wanted to get what’s left of the floor uncovered first and while the driver’s seat was already rusted off, the passenger seat was still ‘firmly’ bolted to the floor. Surprisingly it came out quite easy.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Well, the rear two bolts did. Since the tracks were rusted in place I couldn’t move the seat forward or back to make them more accessible . The front bolts were attached to floor that was about to crumble anyways, so I leveraged the now half-removed seat and ripped it out of the car. literally.
The rust holes in the tow boards lead to a nice visual of the front subframe, and transmission control linkages.
Passenger floor (W ith sadly a cracked A/C duct, which is typical but I had my fingers crossed. And yes that’s a paver block holding the remainder of the right rocker up. It sags quite badly when the heavy door is opened ):
Driver’s side, now with most of the carpet and padding removed (note the kickdown link age, & speedo cable) :
I then removed ALL the padding and carpeting , and began work on removing the much needed shift knob, shifter bezel (sadly broken as well, but has goo d parts and is usable ), and then center console.
My hopes that the trans tunnel was intact enough to provide a backbone to the car to keep it taco-ing has been dashed:
My plans to get the car running may be on hold... I dunno, I kinda feel like turning the motor over’s going to launch it into the bushes at this point. But it’ll be fun!
Bonus pic of me standing in the rust hole after removing the t-tops for good. With the amount the body flexes when I open the right door I didn’t want the glass panels to get broken.
The t-tops are now made of cardboard, covered by a nice poop- brown tarp.

Don't forget to pull the seat belts. I'm always shocked at how much people charge for those things. I'd pull those door cards too. Even in shit shape they are worth something to someone.

So are you still considering whether or not to save it? One positive you have going for it - a complete floor should be available for this car. When I found the floor of my ‘73 Buick all nasty rusted but only in one corner, I had to piecemeal a bunch of crazy shit together because nobody makes floor metal for it.
Unless there are hidden surprised underneath a lot of that bodywork, it might look a lot scarier than it really is. I’d love to own a car people made sheetmetal for.

That thing needs to be given a viking funeral. Too much to save, and not worth enough when done. Regardless good luck with your plans for it.

The rear retractors work, and the buckles are nice. I’ll be selling those on. The fronts are pretty well rotted, covers cracked and the retractors are stuck.

The rear frame rails are GONE. There is nothing for a new floor pan to attach to. Its just a shitty 301 powered Esprit with 133k(?) on it. Its not worth the time and effort to save. It’ll live on, providing parts to other more worthy cars to remain roadworthy.

Part out the good . Cut up the rusty remains and haul it to the scrapper.

So where are you located. I kind of want to put a t-top roof on my Firebird. I am in SE MN.

This looks like a parts car to me unless you can source a complete, rust-free floor.

You can, but there is nothing to weld it to. Plus the frame rails are gone. If it was a SE “Bandit” Trans Am or a 455SD, yeah, it’d be worth it to replace all the sheetmetal from the bottom up . But this is just an Esprit with 133k on it.
